Flarum Is Now On GitHub

21 December 2014

A few months ago, we announced Flarum — beautiful new forum software — in the form of a Kickstarter campaign. Within a week, based on a lot of feedback and some careful consideration, we decided to pull the plug on the Kickstarter. Instead, we pledged to develop Flarum collaboratively as an open-source project.

Today, the journey begins. I have just pushed Flarum in its current (very pre-alpha) state to GitHub. Everything you need to know is in the README: what we’re making, why we’re making it, what technologies we’re using, what needs to be done, and how to dig in.

Redesign

It’s worth noting that I am working on a substantial redesign of Flarum’s interface. This has come about as a result of feedback and self-evaluation following the Kickstarter campaign. You can read all about it and view mockups on this GitHub issue — I would love to get some feedback.

Questions

If you have any questions after reading through the README, please don’t hesitate to discuss them on the Flarum Development Forum, on IRC (#flarum on irc.freenode.net), or tweet @flarum. I’m very excited to hear what you have to say!

Thanks once again to all those who have supported Flarum right through from the Kickstarter until now. Your words of encouragement and enthusiasm have kept me going, and I can’t wait to see where this goes in the future.
