    I don't know how to implement it, but some form of extension onto a browser, displaying the number of unread notifications you currently have.

    I guess you could write a browser plugin, or updating the title of the page and putting the number of notifications in front...similar to how Facebook works - e.g. (1) Notification Browser Extension

    esoTalk has had the foresight to already implement that, which is nice. I'm speaking for when you don't have it open in a tab, or forget that you have posted something, it can act as a quick reminder.
