By the way, will there be a thread for requesting plugins?

There is a channel for it, http://esotalk.org/forum/conversations/plugin-requests+

  4. Hello,
I'm just discovering this new version. I'm wondering how long thread are handled now there is no more pagination.
Does it display all messages month by month or like 20 by 20, or anything else ?

I know there's no examples long enough on this board yet. But see the timeline to the right of the posts? That's how.

Are Original Post, November and Now enough for a long conversation?

They will grow as the thread grows.

I guess it could pose a problem because the smallest interval that the timeline allows you to navigate is a whole month. On a medium to large sized forum, hundreds of posts could be made in a conversation over a month, and there would be no way to navigate through them other than scrolling.

Perhaps below the current month ('November') but before 'Now', there could be items like 'Last week', '2 weeks ago', and '3 weeks ago', depending on how much time has passed in the month. Thoughts?

  9. That may be better for a long conversation, but I am still not sure.

I think the forum is not a chat room. Conversation should be more complete thought, rather than trivial pieces.

    I agree with Toby.

OK, that's what i wanted to know. I saw the timeline, but I did know the granularity of it.
In fact I'm using previous version of esotalk to communicate with a group of friends. And I have over 12 000 messages on the board.

A month can represents over 500 messages !

If I chose esotalk in first place, it was because of the fresh look, the live refresh and all of those things that gives it a more dynamic feeling. Yes we are using it like a chatroom. And I'm wondering if it will be possible with this release.

Also, the lack of migration script is kind of a no go for me now.

  12. People even use Facebook as a chatroom, why cannot esoTalk be like that?

Perhaps to avoid massive clutter, if there has been X amount of posts in a month, once you navigate to the month, like subcategories appear for the weeks? Or something simple and elegant.

  14. I found the timeline function is very similar to Facebook's. Is that true?

I may try to write an upgrade script for the previous version. Perhaps someone will find it useful, not sure when it will be available.

  16. This would be great ! :-)

I'm sorry, I haven't started looking at it. I've been rather busy between work and school. I'll try to start looking at it this week.

Just came across this. Nice !

I own and operate VanillaSkins for Vanilla, and would like to know if you have commercial theming set up ?

As this would be another great niche for us to move into. Love the site.
