    how to make a language pack without deleting default language pack

    Copy the contents of addons/languages/English to addons/languages/Yourlanguage e.g. addons/languages/Dutch

    Open up defintions.php and set the following:

    ET::$languageInfo["Nederlands"] = array(
    	"locale" => "nl_NL",
    	"name" => "Nederlands",
    	"description" => "Een Nederlands taal pakket.",
    	"version" => ESOTALK_VERSION,
    	"author" => "Tristan van Bokkem",
    	"authorEmail" => "@gmail.com",
    	"authorURL" => "http://www.bitcoinclub.nl",
    	"license" => "GPLv2"
    );

    and start translating the second part of the string:

    $definitions["a private conversation"] = "Change this to your own language";

    $definitions["a private conversation"] = "een prive bericht";

    For example see my Dutch translation called "Nederlands" here
